A Maryland woman has been arrested for apparently tying herself in a bedroom to a bedsheet after her husband died in a hospital, police said.
Law enforcement officials said Monday that 31-year-old Maryann Dickson of the District was arrested at her home in Arlington and booked on a charge of first-degree murder.
Police said Dickson allegedly tied herself in the bedroom of her apartment, which was empty, after her 22-year and 3-year older children found their father dead.
Police said she had been sleeping on the bed when they arrived, but was awake when they found her.
Police were called to the apartment on the 2500 block of Greenleaf Street after an elderly woman reported hearing the sounds of someone in the home.
She called police and found her father dead inside.
Police did not release the name of the woman, who had been living in the same apartment for at least 10 years.
Dickson was taken to a hospital and booked into the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on Monday morning.
The cause of death is pending.
